"EL CAMIÓN" (The bus) BY FRIDA KAHLO

This activity can be used with A1, A2, B1 students and above.
First of all, students would be asked to describe what they can see in the painting.

“How many people are there?”, 
“What are they doing?”,
” Is there a relationship between any of them?” 
“What´s the weather like?

ACTIVITY 1 (A1-A2 LEVELS)

Students would be assigned ONE of the characters in the painting to do different tasks:

1-Describe the clothes (including the colours) this particular person is wearing (speaking activity in class)

2 - For homework, they would have to write a composition imagining the life this character has (her/his name, age, house, family, daily routines etc).

ACTIVITY 2 (A2-B1 LEVELS)

Compare the woman on the left with the woman on the right.
Compare the man on the left with the man on the right.
(Using expressions with more,-er, less, not as…….as)

ACTIVITY 2 (B1 LEVEL AND ABOVE)

Speculaton with “Might”,”Might have+past participle” “Might be going”…

Students will have to answer the following questions:

- What do you think these characters do to earn a living?
- What kind of house do you think these characters might live in ?
- Why do you think the man on the left is holding a tool?
- Why do you think the man on the right is holding a bag with money?
- Where do you think these characters might be going or have been to?
- What social class do you think they might belong to?

This activity could lead to a debate about social classes or racism.
