UNDERSTANDING THE ART OF THE INTERWAR PERIOD.
The discontent of many people due to the problems caused by the First World War, gave rise to new ways of artistic expression. Nowadays there are many people who don’t understand the meaning of abstract art and the conection with the artist’ reality. In this example let’s analyze an abstract piece of art and the connection with the historical period.

EXERCISE 1. Analyze the painting. Identification, description and assessment.
-Locate the author and work in time and space.
-What movement does it belong to?

EXERCISE 2. Make connections between the moment when picture was created and the painting itself.
- What’s the purpose of the artist?
- Is the artist interpreting an
important event of that time?
- Do you think it had an influence in the society
of his/her time?
