The Bedroom, by Vincent Van Gogh

Shared by Elena Puente:

The bedroom ( Van Gogh ) it is aimed at students in year 4th of Primary Education in the English area. It is going to be developed in 2 sessions.

The objectives on which we are going to base this picture are: be able to describe a place, talk about different furniture, interact with other using English language and identify and use prepositions and colours.

Activities: We start the class working on the vocabulary related to the image. I will choose some flashcards with some elements of the bedroom. After that, I will show the flashcards and they have to say me the name. When we finish I will ask them again what flashcards they have memorized.

Then, I  will show the image about the bedroom to my students and I ask some questions such as:

What colours do you see?

Is the bedroom big or small?

Do you like this bedroom ?

why / why not?

Students in pairs they ask each other these questions:

describe what is happening? what do you think ?.

Finally, every student draw their own bedrooms and they describe it using preposition and comparatives.

In my opinion, working with Art images in the English lesson it is very interesting for our students, because they develop their imagination and creativity, but above all, they share ideas and opinions with their classmates
