We are going to work in class the topic of Mudejar Art, unique style which was a meeting point between two cultures, Christianity and Muslim, and it reflects de beauty with geometrical decorations in their constructions.
To analyse the style we are going to use the first image of the church of Santa Maria, Tobed in Zaragoza. Which is linked above.
First thing student will do is to draw in a sheet of paper a quick sketch of the shapes of the church they are watching. For that I will project the image of the front of the church position. They have ten minutes to draw the sketch.
Secondly, they have to write five different characteristics they drew before.
Now is time to create their own design inspired in Mudejar style. For that they should design a watch with geometrical structures took from the patterns drew from the church.
As example the ogive vaulted ceilings, geometric motifs of he bands of tiles forming arrowhead motifs. They have 15 minutes to do this part.
Finally, its time for presentation. In this section they should present in front of the classroom their artwork and explain the main characteristics.
