Shared by Juan Ignacio Blanco:
I have chosen Barbara Kruger as I think more women in art should be studied and Kruger has many things that I like: her work is contemporary, she is a feminist, it's not difficult to understand and can be copied very simply.
Many of the works by Kruger could be chosen as an example of what I want to do, but I think the most appropiate one is "I shop therefore I am" for this activity.
Students will have to create a motto/slogan which defines themselves.
This sentence will have two parts, the 1st part must be made up for them according to what they are, and the second part will be "therefore I am".
The background of the image will be changed, and instead of showing a hand, they must show what defines themselves or objects which can represent their motto.
For example: "I ride therefore I am". They can depict photographs of their bikes, motorbikes...
The main goal is that they show pride of what they are and that the rest of students can get to know them a little bit better.
This task will be emailed to me, and I will print in A3 format to put them on the walls and so we can decorate the classroom too.
