SUNFLOWERS by Vincent Van Gogh

Shared by Verónica Huerga:

This activity was aimed at my three, four and five year-old kids from nursery school.
It was planned as a cross-curricular activity as they were studying Van Gogh with their nursery teacher.

First, they watched a video for kids about Van Gogh, in this way, we had our first approach to his life and his works of art.

Then, we chose some of his flower paintings to talk mainly about colours, asking simple questions like:

-what colours can you see?

-can you see blue?

-where?

and help them with the short answers:

-"Yes, I can// No, I can´t " or "I can see blue", etc.

Then, we carried on talking about the name of the flowers represented on the pictures like the sunflowers, lilies, poppies, to finally ask them:

- Do you like it? why?

- what´s your favourite one? ",

 helping them with their answers.

The final activity was making a handcraft.

Using finger paint and coffee filters they made their own versions of the paintings.
