Shared by Josefina Rodríguez:

For 2º de Bachillerato, I chose the painting of Eugène Lacroix " "Liberty leading the people", 1830.

First of all, I sent the painting to my students to see it at home, doing a first work at home. Here, I have used Flipped classroom and used the 3-2-1 technique . It´s a good methodology for them to make a brainstorming of ideas and put them in common ,later in the classroom.

Work at home :

- They see the painting, thinking in 3 ideas, 2 questions and a doubt

- They put in common, by group of 4 their ideas

- Description of the painting : main character, the other people around, the environment. Here they will have to answer different questions, such as:

-Where did it happen and why do you know that?
-Who is the main character, who are the other people
-What does the boy represent, when did it happen?...?

- This Art painting make them speculate, talking about the Past
They can use ( could be, might be, might have been, must have been, may have been...)
- Talking about the past : ( in the past people used to.... )
- What´s happening? ( Present Continous)
- What has happened? ( Present Perfect)
What´s going to happen? (Predictions based on facts)
- What will the Future be like? (Will for predictions)
- What would have happened if.......? ( use the 2nd and 3rd Conditionals)
- Make questions as if the people on the painting were speaking

- We can use the 5-7-5 syllables ( japanese poetry) as an extra activity

- Then, the  Speaking and Writing activity:

* Speak about the environment (can you see...?), (yes/no questions)
* Speak about the human rights
* Speak about the French Revolution
* Use the vocabulary of emotions ( use the sequence of adjectives"opsishacooma)
* Use of prepositions to talk about the different ingredients in the painting
* Student will expand new vocabulary

* At home, they can use Internet to search information about the painter

* They can rewrite the questions we used in class, using the Indirect speech, 2nd and 3rd Conditional, Will, used to, past Simple...)

Final work :
Do you like this painting? Why?

They can use the QR code

At the end of this project, the students are going to visualize this video about the explanation of this painting:
