My Parents, by David Hockney

Shared by Laura Sáiz:

My Parents, 1977. David Hockney

1. Picture dictation: one student dictates the image and the rest of the students draw it or close their eyes and try to imagine it. To draw it or to imagine it better, the listening students can make questions about details they would like to know.

2. Guessing game (using modals) students can guess about the life of these characters, both in the present and in the past.

3. Vocabulary game: I see with my little eye…game.

4. Memory game to practise questions. After watching the painting for a time (1 minute or so), the teacher can ask about the details of the painting. What colour is the woman’s dress? Or how many flowers are there in the vase?
