IN MY DREAM THE CLOCKS…
ACTIVITY FOR 1º ESO .ART LESSONS
Salvador Dalí's “The Persistence of Memory” 1931
1- Power Point presentation about Dalí and Surrealism.The first step is an introduction about the painter and the style. Students will learn important concepts about Surrealism and will see many different paintings by Dalí.
Teacher will focus the attention on the dreams and the images that our brain generates with them, creating impossible spaces and characters.
2- Emotions and feelings that the painting “the persistence of memory” expresses. Ask the students about their feelings and emotions when watching at the painting. Share with the classmates their impressions and connections.
3- Focus your attention on the clocks. Every student has a photocopy of the painting and has to cut the clocks to separate them from the background.
4- Imagine the clocks in another place. Change the context.
Example: Imagine them on a big street in New York.
5- Draw and paint an illustration by sticking the clocks on it.
6- Write a story inspired by your illustration that begin by saying “In my dream, the clocks…”
7- Finally, record a podcast while reading your story.
